La Obertura de “Los Maestros Cantores de Nuremberg”, en cambio, es una partitura brillante, alegre. No en vano esta ópera es la única de Richard Wagner dedicada a la comedia.
El disco tiene el atractivo de ser una interpretación de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Detroit después de la renovación efectuada en los años 1950 bajo la batuta del entonces ya septuagenario director francés Paul Paray.
