Johannes Brahms’ symphonies are works of maturity and all of them reflected his reverence for classical composers. It is well known that his Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op 68, was called "Beethoven's Tenth" by Hans von Bülow. Brahms himself acknowledged that the language is Beethoven influenced but the musical themes, that some musicologists relate to the Ninth, Fifth and other compositions of the genius from Bonn, have the Brahms’ hallmark.
