El Concierto en re, Op. 61 de Ludwig van Beethoven es una obra escrita en 1806, en la etapa vienesa de gran creatividad del músico. A pesar de que en la actualidad está considerado uno de los conciertos para violín más importantes, su estreno fue un fracaso quizás porque Franz Clement, el violinista que lo estrenó, no estaba a la altura de las circunstancias. A mediados del siglo XIX el extraordinario violinista Joseph Joachim lo incluyó en su repertorio y desde entonces es un reto para todo gran violinista.
La versión que les ofrezco es la lectura de Charles Munch con la Orquesta Sinfónica de Boston, actuando como solista un brillante Jascha Heifetz en la plenitud de sus facultades. La cadenza que interpreta está escrita por el propio Heifetz y su maestro Leopold Auer.
The Concert in D, Op. 61 by Ludwig van Beethoven is a work scored in 1806 during the Wiener stage of great creativity of the musician. Despite now it is considered one of the most important violin concertos, its premiere was a complete disaster perhaps because the violinist who premiered it, Franz Clement, was not at the height of the circumstances. By the middle of the 19th century it was included in his repertory by the maestro Joseph Joachim and since then it is a challenge to every great violinist.
The version I show here is the reading by Charles Munch conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra, with a Jascha Heifetz in the height of his faculties. Thecadenza performed is written by Heifetz himself and his master Leopold Auer.
