Domenico Cimarosa fue el último gran representante de la escuela musical napolitana del settecento, de un clasicismo que no pocos comparan con el de W.A. Mozart. Su producción musical se dedicó principalmente a la ópera, de la que nos han llegado casi un centenar de títulos. De su obra instrumental, menos numerosa, la más conocida es este Concierto para oboe y cuerdas en do menor, en particular su primer movimiento (Larghetto). Esta grabación, a cargo de la Orquesta de Cámara Jean-François Paillard con Pierre Pierlot al oboe, nos ofrece la revisión de la partitura efectuada por Arthur Benjamín (quien también arregló una versión para clarinete).
