“Rigoletto” es la primera ópera de Giuseppe Verdi que conformará la trilogía popular junto con “La Traviata” e “Il Trovatore”. En 1851, cuando se estrenó esta ópera en Venecia, era ya Verdi un afamado compositor. La gestación de esta obra tiene su anécdota: su más famosa aria, La donna è mobile, sólo fue ensayada la víspera del estreno por el tenor y los músicos. Verdi temía, y con razón, que su pegadiza melodía se hiciera popular antes del estreno y se le acusara de plagio.
La versión requiere también unas palabras. Está considerada una de las grabaciones históricas más importantes de “Rigoletto”, bajo la batuta del maestro Renato Cellini y con las voces más cotizadas en los años 40 y 50 en los papeles fundamentales del drama. La grabación se realizó en los estudios de la RCA en 1950, aunque en España no se editó este disco hasta 1959.

In 1851, when the opera was premiered in Venice, Verdi was already a famous composer. The gestation of this work has its story: its most famous aria, La donna è mobile, was known by the tenor and musicians only on the eve of the premiere. Verdi feared, rightly, that his catchy tune became popular before the premiere, being accused of plagiarism.
The version also requires a few words. It is considered one of the most important historical recordings of "Rigoletto", under the baton of maestro Renato Cellini and the voices quoted in the 40 and 50 in the pivotal roles of the drama. The recording was made in the studios of RCA in 1950, although in Spain this album was not released until 1959.
