La primera versión del Magnificat BWV 243 es de 1723 pero la versión que se conserva es la revisada por el propio autor en 1732.
The cycle of choral cantatas for the complete liturgical year is a gigantic piece of music that only a genius like Johann Sebastian Bach might undertake. In fact he wrote three cycles, two of which have apparently been lost. The Cantata which has the catalog number BWV 78 was written in his second year of stay in Leipzig, in 1724, and its Duetto for soprano and alto is one of the most beautiful pages written by the Thomaskirche Kantor.
The first version of the Magnificat BWV 243 is from 1723 but the version that remains is the one revised by the author in 1732.
