La Sinfonía nº 1 en Re mayor, “El Titán”, es oficialmente la primera obra de Gustav Mahler. De las anteriores, las que escribió en su juventud, no se conservan las partituras. Esta sinfonía fue concebida como un poema sinfónico y como tal se estrenó en 1889. Posteriormente fue profundamente revisada por el autor, quien introdujo importantes cambios tanto en el contenido como en la orquestación. La que se interpreta en la actualidad es la edición revisada de 1906 o, con algunos ligeros cambios respecto a la anterior, la de 1955.
Symphony No. 1 in D major "Titan" is officially the first opus of Gustav Mahler. Of the earlier works, which he wrote in his youth, no scores are kept. This symphony was conceived as a symphonic poem and as such was released in 1889. It was subsequently thoroughly revised by the author, who introduced important changes in content and in orchestration. Which is interpreted today is the revised edition of 1906 or, with some slight changes from the previous one, 1955.
