El clasicismo francés debe mucho a François-Joseph Gossec, considerado el padre de la sinfonía “a la francesa”. Pero también escribió varias óperas y, sobre todo, música sacra. Su obra, sin embargo, permanece prácticamente olvidada. Quizás por eso es tan interesante este disco en el que está grabada una bella Gavota suya.
Jean Philippe Rameau fue un músico de contrastes: amado por el sector cortesano parisino y denostado por los intelectuales enciclopedistas. De su época de apogeo es la ópera-ballet Las Fiestas de Hébé, concebida como un gran espectáculo teatral.
Finalmente, Luigi Boccherini, quien vivió algún tiempo en París antes de instalarse definitivamente en España, es autor principalmente de música de cámara. Su obra más conocida es este Minueto que forma parte del Quinteto de Cuerda Op.13.

El French Classicism is much in debt to François-Joseph Gossec, considered the father of the French symphony. But he also wrote several operas and, over all, sacred music. However, his works remain almost forgotten. This makes perhaps more interesting this disk containing a recording of one of his beautiful Gavottes.
Jean-Philippe Rameau was a musician of contrasts: loved by the courtesan people of Paris and condemned by the intellectuals of “L’Enciclopedie”. From his apogee era is the opera-ballet Les Fêtes d’Hébé thought as a great theatrical spectacle.
Finally, Luigi Boccherini, who lived for a while in Paris before his definitive installation in Spain, is an author devoted mainly to chamber music. His most popular work is this Minuet that is a part of his String Quartet Op. 13.
