Henry Purcell spent most of his youth to the composition of sacred music. Then, his relationship with the Court forced him to compose courtly odes and music to the scene. But in his mature period returned to compose some Psalms, as is the case of O Give Thanks.

The flute is an instrument of great leadership throughout the entire history of music. From the Baroque era that role is underlined by the demands of an increasing virtuosity. The four-disc collection that is "The Art of the Flutefrom the 17th to the 20th century" provides a full musical summary with performances by who is considered by many (among which I am) the best flutist of all time: Jean-Pierre Rampal.

Versión:

Jean-Pierre Rampal, flauta
Robert Veyron-Lacroix, clave
